The Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum preserves the former Palmer Memorial Institute, a nationally significant school founded by Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown to educate Black students during segregation. Today, the site interprets her legacy as an educator, civil rights leader, and one of North Carolina's most influential Black historical figures. A strong exterior hero/wide image is the primary need for Visit NC.

Photography Priorities:

  • Hero exterior of the historic Canebrake (main museum building)
  • Wide establishing shot showcasing the museum grounds and campus setting
  • Historic markers with related buildings in view to create a sense of place
