The Dan River offers more than 100 miles of scenic paddling and fishing amidst towering cliffs, mountain laurel, flowering shrubs, fields and woodlands in Caswell, Rockingham and Stokes counties. Convenient to Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Chapel-Hill and Raleigh, numerous paddle trips are available from easy whitewater to a gentle float along a lazy river. When other rivers dry up in the summer you can always paddle on the Dan. Public accesses are located at Leaksville Landing on NC 87 and the NC Wildlife Access off Bethlehem Church Road which is off Harrington Road, mile west of NC 14 bridge over the river.
