Newly constructed and opened for play in 2009, Lonnie Poole Golf Course serves as the home for the men's and women's golf teams of North Carolina State University. Also open to the public, the course provides one of the toughest challenges in the Triangle, playing 6,901 yards from the black tees, though shorter tee sets allow anyone to enjoy the course. This beautiful course represents the evolution in golf course architecture towards sustainability; a golf course that fits into and protects the natural environment. The Lonnie Poole Golf Course at N.C. State University is an Arnold Palmer Signature Course. This 18-hole, almost 7,000-yard, par 71, public course, includes a practice range and green, as well as a research center and clubhouse.
