The GlasStation
A former Gulf Oil gas station is the hottest art studio around. Students in the School of Art and Design at East Carolina University in Greenville take private classes in the studio. Instructors fuel monthly continuing education classes and demonstrations for the general public.
Dillsboro Creative Arts Center
Methane recovered from an old landfill at Jackson County Green Energy Park powers the glassblowing and metals labs at this center. Schedule a gallery tour to shop for gorgeous glass art, or sign up for classes in glassblowing, casting and flameworking.
Goldhagen Art Glass
Artist David Goldhagen merges ancient techniques with bold colors to create handblown marvels. The Hayesville gallery is stocked with bowls, platters, sculptures and furniture. You may even meet Goldhagen while he’s working in the studio.
Hearth Glass and Gallery
Multiple generations of artists in the Harvey Littleton family continue the tradition of tending the flame in Western North Carolina. Hearth features their work alongside other regionally blown masterpieces, and local artists teach classes to aspiring glassblowers.
Hot Glass Alley
With a mission to make glass art more accessible to the greater community, this Charlotte studio opens its doors to the public for tours. Watch artists at work and take group or private classes in glassblowing, fusing and stained glass. Also shop for translucent vases, jewelry, bowls and other stunning pieces.
Moon Girl Glass
Kristen Muñoz is a self-described alchemist who uses traditional glassblowing and flameworking techniques to make equal parts striking and functional craft bowls, decanters, drinking glasses and lighting. Beginner classes allow you to dip your toes into the art form.
North Carolina Glass Center
This nonprofit glass studio and gallery helps emerging and established artists enhance their careers and provides affordable one-day and multiweek classes. You can also pop in to shop for handmade keepsakes. There's also a second location in Black Mountain.
Starworks
A former sock factory has been transformed into an expansive space filled with galleries and studios. Visiting glass artists from around the world work in open studios and offer live demos and classes.
Woodhaven Glass
An old repair shop was converted into a modern studio where New York native Larry Zapf pursues his passion for glassblowing. Shop a huge selection of glass pieces or sign up for a class to make your own one-of-a-kind creation.
