Point of Interest
Hanging Rock State Park
1790 Hanging Rock Park Road, Danbury, NC 27016
Just outside the Triad cities, Hanging Rock State Park spans more than 9,000 acres of hardwood forest, sheer cliffs, quiet coves and elegant waterfalls, all stitched together by a trail system that rewards both casual walkers and serious trekkers.
Climb to the iconic formation following Hanging Rock Trail for a cliffside view that feels like another world. Venture deeper on the challenging 4.7-mile Moore’s Wall Loop, where the observation tower gives a 360-degree payoff. In warmer months, the park’s lake invites a cast, swim or paddle with tent and trailer campgrounds that mean even more time with family and friends, sleeping to the lullabies of spring peepers and chorus frogs.
