One of the largest wineries in the south, Duplin is the best-selling muscadine winery in the world with a million-gallon tank capacity. Muscadine grapes, also known as Scuppernongs, are native to the hot, sandy conditions of Coastal North Carolina. Scuppernong is the first grape cultivated in the United States and is the official fruit of North Carolina. They contain high levels of Resveratrol and other health-enhancing antioxidants. Some wineries even sell grape skins to nutraceutical companies.
