Annual Catawba Riverfest

"There's something for everyone at RIVERFEST"! Water derby, Canoe and Kayak races with prizes starts at 11:00am. Bring your own canoe or Kayak or try one out provided by CBS Sports. Enjoy Eco tours of lake James with the Catawba River keeper. Carolina Raptor Center will be onsite with displays of live hawks, owls, and eagels. They will also release a rehabilitated raptor back into the wild at 10:30 am. Great food, live Bluegrass music, and a raffle to win a 9.5 FT. Otter XT Kayak. Special Directions: 3 miles east of the old section, Catawba River Area, on NC-126 From I-40, take the Dysartsville/Lake James exit and head north for 0.5 miles to a stop sign. Turn left onto US 70 and follow for 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Benfield's Landing Rd, and follow it for 2 miles to a stop sign. Turn left onto NC 126, and follow signs to the park entrance, 1.7 miles on the right.
