Butner Summer Festival

In Granville County, as spring and then summer emerge, the warm weather means festival season has arrived. Granville County festivals and events are unique and uniquely Carolina in that they are not just for attending, but for engaging with, and becoming part of our community. A number of our festivals “take to the streets” as our downtown communities come alive. None is bigger or better than the Butner Summer Festival.
 
Once known as the Chicken Pickin’ – the Butner Summer Festival is now much more. Festivities kick off with the Friday Night (street) Dance as the community comes out and takes in the beat as well as the eats from numerous food and drink vendors at Soldiers Memorial Sports Arena. The fun continues Saturday at the Gazebo Park with more music, a BBQ chicken cook-off contest that is heralded around the state, lots of food and craft vendors, kiddie activities and rides, tractor show and a car show that can’t be beat!
