Camp Grier began in 1952 with 600 acres of land donated by R. D. Grier of Statesville. He set up a sawmill, recruited volunteers, and started to build something great. Mr. Grier and the volunteers who built Camp Grier embarked on a journey, an adventure where the outcome was uncertain and full of challenge, hardship and great joy. Today at Camp Grier we still believe challenge, adventure and service to others are incredible tools that can help us to understand our world and ourselves. Between September and June, day passes to mountain bike pump stations and trails are available, along with guided horse rides. Reservations are required for horse rides and training. Camp Grier joins the Curtis Creek Recreation Area with thousands of protected acres and public trails. Activity and event details are online. Cabins and cottages are also on site.
