In the heart of Dale Earnhardt’s hometown of Kannapolis, this NASCAR legend’s life and career are celebrated at Dale Earnhardt Tribute Plaza.

The centerpiece attraction is a 9-foot, 900-pound bronze statue of Earnhardt, and the plaza also features a granite monument contributed by fans from Vermont and New York. The plaza is filled with symbolic details including the seven steps descending into the plaza representing Earnhardt’s seven Cup championships, an oval layout representing a racetrack, benches in groups of three to represent Earnhardt’s car number and many more.

The Dale Earnhardt Tribute Plaza is a major stop on self-guided tour, The Dale Trail. Pick up a free copy of The Dale Trail map at the Cabarrus County Visitor Center, and sponsor a brick at Dale Earnhardt Plaza to be a permanent part of the tribute.
