House of Flags
Flags tell us the story of a group’s struggle for identity and freedom. In the House of Flags, if you listen closely enough, you can hear the stories of these flags ringing loud and clear. The House of Flags Museum displays a unique and comprehensive historical collection of more than 300 United States, military, state and international flags including all 27 full-size official U.S. flags from 1776 to 1960. Admission is free.
Our mission is to nurture and promote patriotism, flag etiquette and historical understanding of the evolution of our nation’s flag through flag displays and a variety of educational programs and activities for all visitors.
House of Flags is right next to Veterans Park, a beautiful small park with fountain and memorial to Polk County war veterans. Picnic tables, water tap. This is the site of the Columbus Summer Concert series and other special events.
