NC 4th of July Festival

  • Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce

  • Downtown Southport
    Southport NC 28461

Southport first celebrated our nation's independence in 1792 as the "Festival of Free Men," and continued the celebrations for two centuries, when the festival incorporated as the N.C. 4th of July Festival in 1972. Today, 40-50,000 people come to celebrate freedom, remember the sacrifices, and enjoy family fun all week long.

Festival events include the official North Carolina 4th of July Festival Parade and Festival Finale Fireworks on July 4th, classic car show, dance contests, live music, children's games, competitions, naturalization ceremony, flag raising and retirement ceremonies, veteran's recognition ceremony, arts and crafts fair with more than 100 booths, national art show, raffles, entertainment, historic and cultural tours, and more during the festival week!
