Men wearing skirts? No not really, they are called kilts and originate in Scotland as an all-purpose garment in their unpredictable weather. Made of wool, the tartan colors symbolize the family of the wearer. On Saturday, April 27th, they will be worn by the athletes at the Central North Carolina Highland Games in Oxford. But the athletic events won’t be the only sounds and sights of Scotland you’ll see as a number of pipe bands will be performing as well. And since you can’t have a festival without food, there will be Scottish food and more including ice cream to feed your hunger. Best of all, the day is all taking place to help a good cause as all of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the Central Children’s Home of North Carolina.
