Visit NC develops and offers North Carolina travel destinations and organizations affordable co-op advertising, marketing, research and management programs. These cooperative programs are evaluated and selected based on their ability to effectively and efficiently reach North Carolina's target consumer.

Cooperative Marketing & Research

Visit NC’s Cooperative Marketing & Research Program is your gateway to smarter, more effective tourism marketing — designed to fit any budget, amplify your visibility and drive real results. Our program tactics follow a simplified layout, sitting under two broad categories with explanations of how each can help you strategically meet your goals.

Program Planning

These tactics are designed to maximize the success of your efforts. Our slew of tactics include, but aren't limited to:

  • Data and research to create a strategy for your audience
  • Productions to bolster your library of assets
  • Destination stewardship programming to support sustainable growth
  • Marketing consulting to sharpen your skills and create efficient workflows

Consumer Audience Facing

Intended to generate awareness, deepen consideration or convert audiences to travel, these tactics can include, among many:

  • National, regional and local digital, streaming and print campaigns
  • Programmatic native and display
  • Placements on Visit NC’s social, email and web channels
  • Domestic and international tradeshow attendance

Each co-op offering is carefully vetted to ensure performance, reach and cost-efficiency, empowering you, our local partners, to make a meaningful impact in your communities through the visitor economy. This year, we’ve launched new programs to equip you with the knowledge and strategies needed to strengthen capabilities in emerging technologies, maximize impact across high-performing channels and drive sustainable, long-term growth.

Official North Carolina Travel Guide

The Official North Carolina Travel Guide is a key tool for Visit North Carolina, promoting the state as a premier travel destination. It showcases all 100 counties and provides essential information on where to go, where to stay, and what to do. The guide is distributed through VisitNC.com, the 1-800-VisitNC call center, and North Carolina's Welcome Centers, which see more than 7 million visitors annually. Additionally, 60,000 copies are distributed with popular magazines like Better Homes & Gardens and Southern Living, expanding its reach. A range of advertising opportunities exist to get your message in the hands of travelers.

The guide’s impact is evident, with 93% of readers inspired to plan or take a trip to North Carolina, 79% developing a more favorable view of the state, and 62% saving the guide for future use. Its combination of print and digital distribution makes it a powerful tool for tourism promotion.
