Morrow Mountain State Park in Stanly County is one of the highest points in North Carolina’s Piedmont region. Whether you’re hiking, horseback riding, camping, paddling, fishing, swimming or simply taking in the view, this park offers a rare mix of highland beauty and accessible outdoor experiences, all just an hour from Charlotte.
More than 15 miles of hiking trails and 16 miles of bridle trails wind from the summit of Morrow Mountain down to the shores of Lake Tillery, offering routes for every kind of explorer. The terrain is part of the ancient Uwharrie Mountains, a once-mighty range whose steep, rugged slopes now rise unexpectedly from the surrounding Piedmont countryside.
Campers can choose from tent and RV sites or reserve cabins overlooking wooded ridges.
