Had a beautiful weekend in the mountains. Started with a treetop cabana soak, a little gambling in Cherokee, hiking, tubing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Not pictured my near death experience tubing 🦋🍃🍄🎰🏔🛁 #latergram #collectmomentsnotthings #lakeview #freakinnature

Every year, between late October and early November, a shadow, in the form of a bear, appears on sunlit days just off of the Rhodes Big View Overlook in Cashiers, NC. It is appropriately known as Shadow of the Bear. I had never heard of this simple, but kind of fun, phenomenon until this year. It seems that photographers and many curious folks from near and far make the trek to see this bear's appearance before it hibernates for the year. I had to see it and can't believe it took me this long to hear about it. Make a note for a visit next year.
