A visit to Bryson City will take you back to a simpler, less-complicated time. Yet you'll have lots to do in the Swain County area of Western North Carolina. We're home to much of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, including its highest peak, Clingmans Dome. We have the Nantahala River, one of the nation's most popular whitewater rafting and kayaking venues, and beautiful Fontana Lake with great fishing and boating. Your Smoky Mountain vacation can include shopping, sightseeing, horseback riding, ziplining, gem mining, tubing, paddleboarding, riding the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad or just strolling along Deep Creek with its three crystal waterfalls. The Tuckasegee River that flows through the center of town is designated Delayed Harvest trout waters with one of the highest trout counts in the Southeast. And Bryson City's central location offers an endless array of day-trips.
