In a guided tour of the museum, you will see mementos from Rosetta’s life, learn about important moments in High Point’s history, and discover inventions made by African Americans.

Rosetta C. Baldwin graduated from High Point Normal Industrial Institute (William Penn HS) 1920, attended Oakwood College, Huntsville, Al. She began teaching christian education in Le Grange. In 1942. Rosetta C. Baldwin started teaching in the living room of the family home with about 25 students, taught more than four generations of children, and became an icon in the community, receiving “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine” award in 1996. The church bearing the family name (Baldwin Chapel) began 1914. This historical museum was created in November 2000 to honor the legacy of Miss Baldwin, her family and many other African Americans and their contributions to the development of the High Point Community.
