This iron smelting furnace was built on the banks of the Dan River in 1843. During the Civil War, it was used to make bar iron.This is a rustic facility with picturesque views of the Dan River. The park has a shelter, restroom facilities and a ball field and provides access to the river for tubing, kayaking and canoeing. The site is suitable for meetings and receptions.

It is the home of the Stokes Stomp, that will be held for the 39th year on Sept 14-15, 2013. The park can be reserved through the Stokes County YMCA.
