From tools, office and shop equipment to home furnishings, textiles and toys, the Grifton Museum has something of interest for everyone. Visit the American Indian artifacts exhibit, as well as the Indian Village across the street. Learn about John Lawson, North Carolina's first Surveyor -General and his connection with this area. Learn about the importance of the Contentnea Creek to the vitality of the area. Civil War artifacts and maps are also on display. A Shad Festival room and an exhibit on the world’s first polyester plant are unique to the museum. Also learn about John Lawson, North Carolina’s first Surveyor-General.

For the paddling enthusiast, the museum is located across from the NC Wildlife Resources boat ramp and beside the reconstucted Catechna Indian Village.

Open 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month 1pm-5pm. Groups and individuals by appointment.
