The Historic Hastings House that was built in 1854 for William Hastings, is one of the two oldest homes in Smithfield. The Hastings House served as pre-battle command office for General Joseph E. Johnston, Commander of the Confederate troops that marched to stop General Sherman at the Battle of Bentonville, March 19-21, 1865. Call to schedule a tour.
