Hammocks Beach State Park includes 323 mainland acres, and 4 islands.

The mainland has a year round visitor center and ferry dock with seasonal passenger ferry service to Bear Island, a kayak launch and 3 paddle trails.

Bear Island is a 1000-acre island bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, salt marshes, and the Intracoastal Waterway. The landscape is dominated by large sand dunes and maritime forest.

The 225-acre Huggins Island has a maritime swamp forest and rich history including Native American history and a Confederate six-cannon battery.

Jones Island, in the middle of the White Oak River, is 24-acres with maritime forest, low upland rises, and marshes along its eastern shore.

Dudley’s Island, between Bear and Huggins Islands is the newest addition and overlooks Bogue Inlet. The 450-acre island was a 3 phase donation with the first phase completed in 2015.
