The Gaston County Museum of Art & History is located on the Dallas Court Square and is part of a National Register of Historic Places District. Visitors to the c. 1852 main building are invited to tour elegantly furnished period rooms; a hands-on parlor and furnished historic hotel rooms on the third floor; and changing exhibits which explore art, history and historic preservation. North Carolina’s largest public collection of horse-drawn vehicles is located in the Daniel Stowe Carriage House at the south of the museum grounds. Gaston County Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums. Works of art, books, locally produced crafts, and historic reproductions are for sale at the Museum Gift Store. Gaston County Museum is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
