Davidson College Sculpture Garden

  • 100 North Main Street

    Davidson,   NC   28036

The Campus Sculpture Program was born out of several donors’ desire to acquire acclaimed outdoor sculptures for Davidson’s campus. The program has historic roots that date back to 1954 when Doug Houchens and the Fine Arts Committee sought funding to bring permanent works of art for the campus. Although their request did not succeed fifty years ago, alumni and supporters of Davidson College approved a similar initiative in 2006. Dedicated in 2007, the garden now features three sculptures by artists -- William Tucker’s Homage to Rodin (1999), Antony Gormley’s You (2005), and Untitled (1995) by Joel Shapiro. This museum-quality collection of sculpture flows beautifully with the natural landscape of its surroundings.
