The 1802 Sandy Creek Baptist Church, located on Sandy Creek Church Road in Liberty, is the oldest organized church and oldest surviving religious structure in Randolph County. Its founding in 1755, by Elder Shubal Stearns, was among the most significant landmarks in Baptist history. Local historic landmark designation was approved by the Randolph County Board of Commissioners on April 6, 2009.
