American Museum of the House Cat
Though the beloved Dr. Harold Sims is no longer with us, his remarkable, 30-plus-year collection dedicated to the house cat continues to captivate visitors. The collection features a genuine Egyptian cat mummy dating from 300–30 B.C., a petrified cat discovered in the chimney of a medieval home in England, fine "picture art" dating back to the late 1800s, modern art, folk art, rare advertising pieces, cat poster art, and exquisite art glass cats produced by the world's finest glassmakers. You’ll also discover vintage and antique toy cats—many of which are automations from the 1890s—alongside historic advertising items where cats were used to sell products, plus advertising clocks and display items. This one-of-a-kind museum is one of only two in the United States dedicated solely to celebrating the house cat.
