The Headwaters of the Catawba River and protected by conservation easements, this 340-foot cascade includes upper and lower falls with an upper 70-foot plunge. Moderate hike to lower falls, strenuous hike to upper falls, 3 miles. Public access available from dawn to dusk only. Dogs are allowed on 6 ft. leash only, in accordance with U.S. Forest Service regulations.

Exit I-40, #73, turn left, travel under the interstate, and take an immediate right turn. At the fork, bear left onto Catawba River Road (behind McDonald's) and go 3 miles to the road's end. Park on gravel shoulder on left. The trail begins across the bridge and to right.
