Hillside is a grand Tudor-style home built in 1929. Its builder was Julian Price, founder, and president of Jefferson Life Insurance Company, at one time the 13th largest insurance company in America. The sprawling residence was designed by architect Charles C Hartmann, a New York architect who settled in Greensboro to become one of the state’s most prolific architects. The house was designed to evoke a rambling English Tudor home, complete with stucco, herringbone brick, and massive brick chimneys with articulated flues and clay pots, and an asymmetrical massing that features gables, wall dormers, and a stair tower.
The house is available for overnight stays, whether you choose the entire home or one of five luxurious guest rooms.
