Comprised of more than 500,000 acres, Pisgah National Forest is primarily a hardwood forest with whitewater rivers, waterfalls and hundreds of miles of trails. And it has numerous campgrounds that offer the perfect place to rest and relax, or get active with trails, horseback riding tubing.
Black Mountain Campground, Harmon Den Horsecamp and Rocky Bluff Campground are in the Appalachian Ranger District.
Boone Fork Campground, Curtis Creek Campground and Mortimer Campground are in the Grandfather Ranger District.
Lake Powhatan Campground, Davidson River Campground, North Mills River Campground, Sunburst Campground, and Wolf Ford Horse Camp are in the Pisgah Ranger District.
