Come join us as we celebrate Tommy Jarrell’s birthday with a concert, workshops and presentations. Tommy was a fiddler, banjo player, and singer from Mount Airy who was influential in spreading the intense, bluesy, fiddle-driven Surry County old-time sound – and making it synonymous around the world with American old-time music. He received the National Endowment for the Arts' National Heritage Fellowship Award in 1982. His fiddle is on display at the Smithsonian. Memorabilia from Tommy Jarrell is on display at the Earle Theatre and Old-Time Music Heritage Hall in downtown Mount Airy. Before the concert is the Tommy Jarrell Youth Competition with youth competing in instrument and vocal categories. Concert features Buckstankle Boys, Pilot Mt Bobcats, Zephyr Lightning Bolts, and Buckstankle Boys.

Admission: $10
