For more than 220 years, Southport has celebrated our nation's Independence in a big way, and we invite you to join the celebration! Incorporated as the N.C. 4th of July Festival in 1972, the festival remembers the sacrifices, celebrates freedom, and promotes family fun.

The festivities kick-off with the traditional Oak Island Beach Day on July 1. A day full of games, entertainment and food hosted by the Town of Oak Island begins at 8 am. The Cat 5 band will keep you dancing with live music! The day ends with the annual Beach Day & Oak Island Fireworks show at 9 pm at the Oak Island Pier.

Saturday and Sunday, July 3 & 4, events include the Red, White and Blue Car & Truck Show, children’s entertainment, arts & crafts market, entertainment, flag retirement & flag raising ceremonies, UPWA Live Pro Wrestling, Freedom Flotilla, and the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Festivities will conclude on July 4 with a rireworks display fired from the Southport waterfront that will be visible for miles around!
