For more than 220 years, Southport has celebrated the nation's Independence in a big way, and they invite you to join the celebration! Incorporated as the N.C. 4th of July Festival in 1972, the festival remembers the sacrifices, celebrates freedom, and promotes family fun. In 2021, many events will be held in Oak Island. Locations are varied to enhance social distance.
Festivities kick-off with the traditional Oak Island Beach Day on Thursday. A day full of games, entertainment and food hosted by the Town of Oak Island begins at 8 am. The day ends with the annual Beach Day & Oak Island Fireworks show at 9 pm at the Oak Island Pier.
Saturday and Sunday events include the Red, White and Blue Car Show, children’s entertainment, arts & crafts market, Flag Raising and Retirement ceremonies, and much more. Festivities will conclude on July 4 with a Fireworks Display fired from the Oak Island Pier that will be visible for miles around.
