Join us for a weekend of celebration at the Roanoke Rapids High School including parades, community events, homecoming, all-class reunion, and Centennial Gala. This will be more than "just" a homecoming and welcoming to all attendees.
A time capsule was cemented by the Masons in 1921 in the northern-most corner of the RRHS senior building. We've waited 100 years. You do not want to miss the unveiling of the time capsule. The Masons will be on hand to assist in the ceremony for our 100-year-old capsule. The Masons will perform a 100 Year re-dedication ritual.
Roanoke Rapids High School opened in 1921. It was the brainchild of local industrialist Samuel Patterson and was intended to be the centerpiece of the entire Roanoke Rapids community. The school was designed by Hobart Upjohn and cost ten times the average high school building in the state. It is in the Tudor Revival or Gothic style and draws qualities of the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford in the United Kingdom.
