The town of Boone can have a peculiar effect on those who have been to its tranquil Appalachian hills. When a former Boone resident finds their way back to those beautiful mountains, they call it the "Boonerang Effect."

That magnetic pull back to the town is the inspiration for Boonerang Music and Arts Festival, which in 2023 featured artists with ties to the area like Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, Larry and the Keels, and The Kruger Brothers. Boone's downtown will transform into the festival grounds, with three separate stages hosting concerts, an art & crafts market, beer, food, and shopping all throughout the town. There will also be a fun kids zone for all the young ones to attend.
