To quote the late George Jones, “the race is on.” The forecast calls for Camaros, El Caminos, Corvairs, Corvettes, Chevelles, Chevettes, Monzas, Malibus, ‘55s, ‘65s and, just for grins, perhaps the first 300-mile-per-hour jet car run ever at The Rock. That’s because this year’s race not only features a barrage of bow ties, but also on Saturday the jet dragsters of Larsen Motorsports, including the one driven by two-time World Champion Elaine Larsen. GM bracket racing, a car corral, an over-the-top car show, swap meet and, for the first time, nostalgic front-motored Top Fuel dragsters. It’s a smorgasbord of Chevrolets. As always, free parking in the main lot.
