History comes to life at Fort Fisher State Historic Site during this annual event reenacting and retelling the stories of the men who fought the afternoon of January 15, 1865 in the Battle of Fort Fisher. Talk with infantry reenactors about camp life and garrison duty, watch firing demonstrations consisting of the Historic Site’s Rifled and Banded 32-pound cannon and bronze 12-pound cannon. Local photographer Harry Taylor will be on-site using his 1860’s wet-plate photography studio to take photographs for visitors. The boom of cannons will echo across the Cape Fear River and Atlantic Ocean during this family friendly event depicting one of the most seminal battles of the Civil War.
