After a three-year hiatus, the Doc & Rosa Lee Watson MusicFest 'N Sugar Grove is back in 2022! The festival honors and celebrates the late 8-time Grammy-winning musician from just down the road in Deep Gap, Arthel Lane "Doc" Watson. Doc got his start when he was a young man busking on the streets in Boone, but later became a national icon who toured nationally and internationally and played with some of the biggest names in American music.

Though Doc passed away in 2012 at the age of 89, the festival continues as a tribute to his legacy and impact on music and the community. The festival serves as a fundraiser for the Historic Cove Creek School, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and houses the newly renovated Doc Watson Museum.

The Del McCoury Band headlines the festival this year, with support from the Kruger Brothers, The David Mayfield Parade, David Childers, Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road, plus so many more!
