In the land of waterfalls, amidst the breathtaking natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, stands the Brevard Music Center, one of the country’s premier summer training programs and music festivals. Led by Artistic Director and alumnus Keith Lockhart, the next generation of talented young musicians gathers to perform great musical works alongside distinguished faculty and many of the most celebrated names in music. From June through August, 40,000 music lovers catch these stars of tomorrow as they fill the summer nights at Brevard’s 1,800-seat open-air, lakeside Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium. Season highlights include a two-week Aaron Copland Festival, three fully staged operas, the apocalyptic Season Finale: Mahler 2, the film Raiders of the Lost Ark in concert with live symphony, nonclassical legends Lyle Lovett and Béla Fleck and much more.
