The creator of this event 43 years ago wanted to create a “family” of artists and craftsmen, nationwide, that could stage indoor festivals showcasing their totally original works and interact one-on-one with the public. The first of these events, the “granddaddy” and prototype of all the others on today’s schedule, was the Christmas Classic, held each Thanksgiving weekend. It's a fine balance of crafts and fine art and the specialties within those areas. There is careful thought given to a balance of traditional and contemporary works as well. There are usually between 250 and 450 artists/vendors in the Craftsmen’s Classic show.
