The Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show is the oldest continuous outdoor horse show in the United States. There are older shows, but this show has run through inclement weather, depressions, and even WWII. The outdoor nature of the show makes it special as it sits just a stone's throw from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The electric excitement of the show sits against the beautiful backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are carriage and harness speeds, pony races, jumpers, and even costume contests. It’s truly a show that has kept its spirit rooted in fun. It’s due to this that people of all ages, no matter their equestrian knowledge, can enjoy the show.
