The 18th Annual Under the Oaks Arts Festival is a two-day outdoor juried art show with a variety of fine and wildlife artists on the sweeping waterfront grounds of historic Corolla Park at Whalehead. One hundred-year-old live oaks, open green lawns and casual breezes from the Currituck Sound make for a perfect location. This festival features the unique talents of over 50 quality artists with a wide array of creations in painting, pottery, jewelry, mixed media, photography, woodwork, glass, metal, fiber art plus local food concessions and a silent art auction that benefits Whalehead. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Whalehead was the 1920s residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Collings Knight, Jr., a 21,000-square-foot “mansion by the sea." This event is rain or shine with free parking shuttles.
