U-Pick and Farm Visits

Spend a day at farms in North Carolina, where fruits are ripe for picking, pumpkins inspire the season and corn mazes add to the fun.

Whether it’s a traditional harvest festival, a grape stomp, bustling production activities, special tastings, or simply a crisp and colorful day in the countryside, fall is a great time of year to visit North Carolina vineyards and wineries. Here are some “grape” events happening around the state this fall.

Savor country living by picking your own apples or letting others do the prep work as you enjoy a meal created with local ingredients. Or to fully reconnect with the rhythms of nature and your food, spend the weekend on a working farm.

Wake up to the sounds of the forest, breathe in the crisp air and taste the richness of the land through healthy, farm-fresh dishes. It’s more than a farm stay — it’s a window into a better future.

Some farm vacations let you roll up your sleeves and do farm chores. At others, you can just breathe the fresh air, relax, and enjoy serene pastures and rural views.

The number of small, sustainable farms in North Carolina is on the rise, as people across the state seek out local food grown by folks they know. Perhaps nothing reflects this better than the bounty of farm-to-table restaurants to be found in every region, from casual to upscale, in large cities and rural enclaves.
