The Blowing Rock
432 The Rock Road, Blowing Rock, NC 28605
North Carolina’s oldest travel attraction has been pulling people to the edge of the High Country since 1933. Fun fact: The Blowing Rock got its name because strong winds rush upward due to the gorge's shape — strong enough to lift light objects back into the air.
Take the short scenic walk to the famous rock ledge, soak in gorge views and check out the garden paths, waterfall and observation areas along the way. It’s an easy add-on to a Blue Ridge Parkway day, especially if you want big views without a big hike.
