Grandfather MountainGrandfather Mountain Offers Secret Season Passes for Winter

Enjoy winter views of the North Carolina High Country from the Mile High Swinging Bridge

As the fall color season draws to a close, winter's chill sweeps through the High Country and paves the way for Grandfather Mountain's Secret Season. From Nov. 1 through April 30, Grandfather Mountain offers Secret Season passes good any time to experience the wonder of the mountain at an affordable winter price.

Secret Season passes are $32 (plus tax) for adults, $18 for children ages 4 to 12, and $90 for groups of six or more traveling in the same vehicle.

For those who live and work in the surrounding areas, the Secret Season pass offers many unique opportunities to enjoy Grandfather Mountain without the crowds of summer and fall. Some choose to stop by the mountain for a warm cup of soup from Mildred's Grill at lunchtime. Others enjoy trips up to the Mile High Swinging Bridge to experience endless views of snow-dusted evergreens. No matter your reason for visiting, Secret Season pass holders are rewarded not only with the sensation of being on top of the world, but also with the feeling of having it all to themselves.

Secret Season passes are on sale at the Grandfather Mountain entrance gate and are valid through April 30. Winter hours, weather permitting, are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The park is closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.

Grandfather Mountain is a magical place when rime ice covers the surrounding peaks. Opening is delayed until all roads and paths can be cleared of snow and ice. Call (828) 733-4337 to confirm the day’s conditions before visiting during winter weather.
