Visitors to North Carolina will find unique shopping venues throughout the state, but none is more fascinating and unusual than the 500,000-square-foot china store along Interstate-40. Replacements, Ltd. is the world's largest retailer of old and new china, crystal, silver and collectibles, with more than 11 million pieces of inventory from more than 450,000 patterns in a warehouse bigger than the size of eight football fields. Located in McLeansville, near Greensboro, the building looks more like an arena than a china shop. Replacements offers free tours of the showroom, warehouse and museum, which includes over 2,000 rare pieces such as the official White House state dinnerware service of President Harry S. Truman and a "great wall of china" with more than 500 china, 150 crystal and 150 flatware patterns alphabetically arranged by manufacturer.
