Cherohala Skyway

Connecting the Nantahala and Cherokee National Forests, the “Cherohala” Skyway winds through the splendid scenery of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Take your time, pack a picnic and enjoy the many overlooks and trails along the way.

Uwharrie Scenic Road

This Piedmont byway travels through rolling hills of metamorphic rock and mountains formed hundreds of millions of years ago. Pan for gold at a famous mine and see the historic Denton Farm Park in Davidson County. End in the city of Charlotte.

Hanging Rock Scenic Byway

From geological wonders to small towns like Mount Airy, this scenic byway traverses through some of the best of the North Carolina Piedmont. Spend some time at Hanging Rock State Park amongst the ancient mountains and see a waterfall tumble 200 feet.

Mill Bridge Scenic Byway

Step off the beaten path. A drive along this beautiful Piedmont byway rambles through quiet farmland, from a mill and water wheel all the way to an African safari at the Lazy 5 Ranch. Stop for fresh produce at a you-pick farm along the way.
