Point of Interest
Pilot Mountain State Park
1721 Pilot Knob Park Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043
Recognized instantly by its soaring Big Pinnacle, Pilot Mountain State Park rises above the rolling hills of the Piedmont and delivers some of the most dramatic views in North Carolina. Just 20 miles north of Winston-Salem, this state park draws hikers, climbers, paddlers and photographers with its mix of quartzite cliffs, scenic trails and riverfront access along the Yadkin.
The Pilot Knob Trail offers a moderate loop around the base of the Big Pinnacle, while Corridor Trail offers a more challenging hike or adventure on horseback, though there are many other trails that run throughout. Rock climbing is permitted in designated areas, and paddlers can launch into the Yadkin River section of the park for a more peaceful vantage point with paddle-in campsites available.
To preserve this rare natural space, practice the Outdoor NC Leave No Trace Principles: Stay on marked trails, pack out your trash and keep wildlife wild.
