Located in the historic Old Main Building on the University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s campus, the Museum of the Southeast American Indian offers a profound journey into the vibrant cultures and histories of Southeastern Native peoples. Through authentic artifacts, fine arts and rotating exhibits, the museum brings the stories of Native American communities to life. Visitors can engage with hands-on experiences, enjoy book readings, and even participate in powwows that celebrate the ongoing traditions of Indigenous cultures.
The museum’s mission extends beyond education, serving as a hub for research, preservation and collaboration on Native American history and contemporary issues. With a special focus on the Native communities of Robeson County and the broader Southeast, it’s a space that fosters understanding and appreciation. Open Monday through Friday, the museum welcomes everyone with free admission.
