Hezekiah Alexander Homesite
The oldest structure on the grounds is the Hezekiah Alexander House, a 5,000-square-foot rock house. The Hezekiah Alexander House is the oldest surviving house in Mecklenburg County. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was built circa 1774 and still stands on its original site. The house is accompanied by a reproduction log kitchen, barn, and reconstructed two-story springhouse. The Charlotte Museum of History, also located here, is temporarily closed to the public. However self-guided tours of the historic homesite grounds are available through Guide By Cell on Tuesdays through Sundays, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. See website for instructions.
