Architect Jones says, "It's a rugged site. The golf course fits very naturally, hitting from elevated tees, down into the valleys and back up." Severely rolling terrain gives Pinehurst No. 7 a mountain flavor. When originally routing the course, Jones found old bunkers, part of a long-abandoned employees course.
